The Masses was founded by Patrick Fernandez alongside with Allen Collado and Angellyn Gutierrez back in 2022. It was to start a training program targeted to dancers who are passionate and want to pursue a higher level of training.

We aren’t structured as a competing crew, because we believe that the competition is more about the personal journey of individuals where you are against your current self striving to be better in the future by doing the necessary steps in the present. Being accountable, setting personal goals, and establishing habits that ultimately lead oneself to being a better dancer and individual than you are yesterday. Because we believe that art imitates life and whatever you learn from this art-form can translate to everyone’s lifestyle.

In 2023, the legendary Sho Tyme became one of the co-directors of The Masses providing the missing piece in the vision we want to create. That is the abundant knowledge and wisdom in both dance and professional industry standards that raised the bar of training even higher than we’ve ever expected. He expanded everyone’s vocabulary with every class he teaches and gave every student a new perspective when tackling every dancer’s “why” factor.

“Why do we dance?”

Is it because of the bright lights on stages and the cheering of the audience? Is it the validation we get from other people who we seek validation from? Is it because of the social aspect where you’ll see your friends every time you go to training and dance classes?

Our “why” should simply be the LOVE for it and the process of improving not the other factors that comes with dance. This is the mentality that we want to achieve with The Masses and to anyone who steps foot to our doors. Let the love for dance walk the talk and continue to be the driving force in places it takes us.

Like-minded dancers and artists of movement coming together to be a part of the The Masses that coexists interdependently while building each other through the struggles is what we are all about. The bright lights and performances are just the cherry on top of what we have to offer.
